Certification of buildings according to BREEAM

Real estate owners and fund managers are rethinking their strategy.
Sustainable and certified buildings are progressively moving to the centre of their attention. Value stability, eco- and user-friendly buildings with low operating and maintenance costs are the symbols for a new awareness in the building industry.
The Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method (BREEAM) was developed by the Building Research Establishment Group (BRE) in Great Britain and is the oldest and most prevalent certification system for buildings in the world.
The certification method concerns both ecological and sociocultural aspects of real estate especially emphasising global, local and building intern life cycle impacts.
The BREEAM-certification evaluation occurs by implementing a precisely defined point-rationing scheme.
The following categories are evaluated:

  1. Management
  2. Health and wellbeing
  3. Energy
  4. Transport
  5. Water
  6. Materials
  7. Waste
  8. Land use and ecology
  9. Pollution

One distinctive feature within the point rationing is, that with notably intelligent and innovative technologies can be achieved extra points.

Depending on Performance the building receives a categorization between Pass and Outstanding.

As accredited assessors by BRE we at e3 consult are looking forward to assist you with your building project.
